Stirrer

Permanent Magnet Stirrer for Molten Aluminum Furnaces
Zmag’s technology is the world's first stirrer using a permanent magnet circuit for molten aluminum furnaces. This technology requires only 1.5% to 15% of the electricity of conventional electromagnet stirrers and pumps while providing for a superior circulation of molten aluminum. There is no direct contact with molten aluminum and no need to maintain a liquid cooling system. Customers can expect an increase in productivity and recovery, homogeneity throughout molten aluminum, and savings in fuel consumption and reduction in greenhouse gasses.

Typhoon™ : Aluminum Chip Melter and Alloyer using Permanent Magnet Drive
Zmag’s Typhoon™ is the world's first chip melter and alloyer using a permanent magnet drive. There is no direct contact with molten aluminum and no need to maintain a liquid cooling system. The patented design is compact and efficient, providing for easy placement next to a furnace, open access for cleanout, minimial maintenance and increased safety.

Magnetic Field Drum Separator
A problem common to magnetic separators is the tendency of non-magnetic debris to mix with magnetic matter through the rotation of objects on the drum’s surface.  Zmag’s patented mechanism virtually eliminates this issue, cleanly separating magnetic from non-magnetic debris. The Magnetic Field Drum Separator is ideal for incineration ash, granulated blast furnace slag, and matter composed of fine particles.

Precision Gravity Sorter
Zmag's gravity sorter allows for recovery of materials of varying size and weight. The technology is ideal for material separation of mixed metals and of non-magnetic valuable materials.

Magnetic Pole Repulsion Non-ferrous Metal Separator
Zmag’s Magnetic Pole Repulsion technology is most effective for non-ferrous metal separation of materials with a diameter of about 5mm. By producing a bar-code pattern magnetic field distribution and controlling the rotary motion of work, the separator succeeds in effectively introducing repulsive force from the eddy current.

ASR (Automobile Shredder Residue) & Fluff Recovery Technology
Although many organizations have been working on the development of technologies to effectively recycle ASR (commonly referred to as “fluff”), as of yet there is not a satisfactory solution. Material recycling, gasification, and use of fluff as fuel are the main approaches under industry consideration.  However, effective recycling of fluff is very difficult, with each solution carrying significant tradeoffs. Zmag’s technology is based on a thorough separation and recovery of materials. This technology is the most practical and ideal method because (1) it requires a low technical degree of difficulty and carries a very good cost performance, (2) via Zmag's technology, fluff can be used as fuel, (3) valuable materials such as copper are recovered and can be recycled, and (4) the technology complements existing equipment, reducing startup and running costs.  Zmag is looking for potential partners to promote this technology.

Granulated blast furnace slag, incinerated ash, and landfill ash recycling
Iron content is a serious problem when treating granulated blast furnace slag taken from crude steel production, incinerated ash and dig out from landfill sites. Typically, effective separation cannot be achieved because non-magnetic debris is drawn to the magnetic matter side. Thus, it is important to rotate and vibrate targeted objects and filter them out within the magnetic field domain. Zmag has developed the world’s first technology that discharges targeted objects into a transfer magnetic field. As a result, the amount of non-magnetic debris being attracted towards the magnetic matter side is less than 1/10 to 1/20 of that of conventional magnetic separators.

Selectable Charge Electrostatic Technology
Zmag’s selectable charge electrostatic technology is most effective for the removal of copper and PVC from shredder residue (including ASR/fluff, retired appliances and plastics). Most electrostatic separators have a pressurization mechanism driven by electrical condenser. Using this mechanism, operation is often interrupted due to a drop in power voltage by the electrical discharge between the electrode and the targeted material, significantly lowering efficiency. Zmag has made it possible for continuous operation by lowering the pressurization time to under 100msec. Furthermore, by selectively charging a targeted object, separation accuracy is enhanced for maximum efficiency. This technology is available in both drum and counter-electrode versions.
